As promised I have listed my new Range of Grown Up Surfer style Bracelets. I have decided not to list them as Mens Jewellery although they have in the main been sized as such but there are a couple of smaller ones that would be suitable for a womans wrist. I think the Harley style with the addition of silver is more Biker Chic Chick than surfer and I wear one often myself.

Following on from my dash to be with my family following my Fathers operations he had to have yet further surgery for another complication and we were told that it was likely he would not survive this one as he was so weak. But being from good old strong farming stock survive he did the five hour operation and I am pleased to say is making good progress.
Many thanks to those that wished him well your kind thoughts and comments were much appreciated.
I am back home now as I have to return to work on monday and somehow get back into Jewellery mode the nights are drawing in and Christmas is fast approaching. Looks like the candles will be burning from both ends for the next few weeks.
I will be listing some new Mens Jewellery shortly that I finished just before I had to dash off just need to take some more photos. I noticed my 29 year old godson still wearing the surfer bracelets of his missspent youth and it occured to me that maybe he would like a more grown up version better quali...

Sad Post

Have not been able to do any jewellery as my dear Father has been taken critically ill. Having been in hospital for 4 weeks he came home for 5 days and was rushed back to hospital for emergency surgery. Sadly monday night he had to have yet another major operation for further complications and is back in ITU for the duration. He will be in hospital for several months to come. Spending time in Bristol with my family as fortunately I am supposed to be on two weeks annual leave from work to give my poor overworked sister some respite.
I have as you may have seen on my home page left a message for any clients that I will not be able to post any items before Monday 27th September.
I appreciate your understanding. MornieG.

Finally done it

Well I finally did it. Spent a fantastic bank holiday weekend at Flux n Flame having my first silversmithing lesson. I am totally hooked without a doubt. Dying to get my workshop finished so I can make a start to progress and refine what I have learnt to a stage when I will be happy that I am good enough to ask cold hard cash for my pieces.
Here are the results of my weekend two rings that I am proud to be able to wear even if not yet good enough to unleash on the public. On the left hand side is my Ribbon Ring in sterling silver. The ribbon is hand textured and forged to shape with a soldered post to hold the beautiful little Storm Lampwork Bead from Rob Johnson. The unusual design spans across to the adjacent finger left or right as you wish to wear it. The first one I made was the one on the right. Taken from a design I already had in my huge file of Things I want to make sometime I adapted it to incorporate the fabulous faceted deep blue trillion Topaz I came across on the course....

May Day and the sun has tried very hard to keep shining but the clouds have now taken over completely and the rain has started. Sat at my keyboard I have a front row seat to keep an eye on the family of Robins that have taken up residence in the front hedge. The parents are working their socks off in and out of the hedge all day long but I have not seen any young yet and dont want to disturb the nest. They guard it furiously attacking any other birds that come near then turn their backs on the nest until they are sure no one is looking to see them enter it again. Wonderful tenacious little native birds they are welcome to stay in my garden anytime.

Hi everyone just back from another successful visit to Rob and Yvonne Johnsons Studio in Upwell. The sun shone brightly and I was again made very welcome despite taking up a precious sunday. With more lovely Sea Glass and Lampwork beads to play with I hope to list some new pieces for summer over the next few weeks.
You will shortly be able to find a new range of Jewellery from me called Rios Rocks made exclusively for Swanky Maison the fabulous new on line store www.swankymaison.com I will be listing the first pieces this coming weekend. This new venture unlike lots of craft type sites that have sprung up over the last year or so prides itself on selecting only quality products for its store and I am delighted that a range of MornieG Jewellery products will be available from them.
For those of you that have visited MornieG Jewellery site before you will notice it has had a revamp. I was trying to make it a little lighter and brighter. The only problem I and for that matter MrSite h...

Spring is here and my Mojo has returned along with the sunshine. So I have listed a new design for me a Lariat style Necklace and matching Earrings in some of Rob Johnsons stunning Colbalt Blue Sea Glass beads in my Sea Glass shop. I can see a bride wearing this statement piece against a simple classic gown or be like me and wear your jewellery anytime just because you like it regardless of the occassion my goodness this piece worn with a classic look of jeans and a white teeshirt under a smart jacket would look stunning.
Short and sweet post today off to play with some more sea glass and lampwork hearts must make the most of that mojo feeling.

For your Valentine

Goodness two posts in one month. Just a quick one today to let you know about my first Valentine design for this year the Bursting with Love Necklace. It can be found in the Wedding and Occassion shop as it would be eminantley suitable for any of these outings. This was inspired from my latest Sea Glass piece Northern Lights
Most Lampwork Hearts are made with the holes vertical as its more difficult to get a pleasing Heart Shape working in the opposite direction but Rob very kindly made me this one and I have three more I hope on the way shortly. I have been told no more after those will see what I can do to change his mind for next year as I think they are so beautiful and worth the extra time effort and money they cost to produce. I love rare things to work with especially for my Unique pieces.
Off to make some matching Earrings see them on here soon.

Oh dear Im really not very good at keeping up with my blog. Nearly the end of January and here I am saying Happy New Year. What a start to 2010 we have had weather wise but hopefully spring is on the way.
To be honest I have been struggling somewhat on the design front. I waxed lyrical on here when I was introduced to Rob Johnsons Sea Glass earlier last year. I have amassed quite a collection and I still love it just as much but I felt it needed a design style or range of its own. While I am perfectly happy with the pieces I have made up so far I really love the Necklace I have listed today Northern Lights. Its lighter and finer than anything I have done before and I think compliments the glass nicely. There are matching Earrings of a simple drop as I feel you dont need two extravagant pieces of jewellery competing with each other. I hope you like it too and I hope to work on some more pieces in the coming weeks.

I want to have a tidy up of the site over the christmas and make some new pieces with my vast collection of Semiprecious stones Lampwork and Sea Glass beads to start 2010 afresh. Although I have still not been able to start on the silversmithing I really hope to find the time in the coming year as I have so many designs in my mind I want to make.
Just look at this beautiful indian summer weather and here am I thinking about Christmas. Although some items overlap all the three shops when people are multiple purchasing as they do at christmas its sometimes easier to purchase everything from one store rather like we do on the high street and now on line. These handmade gift emporiums are a godsend and you know they are all genuine artisans with no bought in goods so once again you are supporting British small industry by purchasing through them.
Wow two blogs in one month I said I would blog when I had something useful to say and I have. My favourite Lampworker Rob Johnson has done it again and come up with something beautiful unique and totally irresistable Sea Glass Beads.
I have today created a new shop page Sea Glass Jewellery and have listed my first two pieces made from a set of beads Rob has made from sea glass he has salvaged from the shores of the east coast of England. He is also making silver cored pieces and I have made a necklace with my first piece but sadly I cannot part with it and have worn it to death in the last month I have another piece on its way and three more sets of beads so will be listing more as soon as I can design and make some more pieces.

Hi there. Cant believe its so long since I last posted. So much going on in work and life in general the time has just flown by. Summer is nearly over the children are back to school and the dreaded C word is starting to be banded about.
Just come back from a fabulous few days in sunny yes sunny not blowing a gale and raining Norfolk where of course I had to visit my wonderful lampwork glass makers Rob and Yvonne Johnson. Once again they gave up a precious day from their weekend to have me invade the barn riffle their stocks feed me give me a sightseeing tour and still smile at the end of it and say come back soon.
Robs new creations from sea glass are so unique. Naturally I bought some of his seaglass beads and will acquire some silver cored pieces but there were none finished when I was there. They are all selling as fast as he can make them which is fantastic for him and a pain for me as I keep getting pipped at the post to the ones I want from his Pebble Dreams site.
Gosh so long since last blog just dont know where the time is going. But on a day like today the sky is blue the sun is shining and all is well with the world Trying not to think about going back to work again tomorrow. Listed a couple of new necklaces with matching earings today. They are a new strung design and I have to say I am quite pleased with them. Listed them straight away or may be tempted to keep at least one The strung pieces keep the prices down for you and I am enjoying trying to make something different by using findings in a different way than intended. I did this with the Tanya Choker in the Weddings and Occassion shop and I think this worked well too.
Thanks again to the customers that are supporting my enterprise. Things are slow but hopefully we have hit the bottom of the recession and can look forward to next year taking a turn for the better.

Yes I know its only a few days instead of months since my last post but it will be a short one. My new MISI site is fully up and running on www.mornieg.misi.co.uk. and I will be adding a few new items on a regular basis. Everything on MISI is still Sterling Silver and made to the same standard as the pieces here on my main site but with little or no chain maille with the exception of the odd more expensive piece that I may from time to time include just for fun and the lampwork will still come from the studio of Rob and Yvonne Johnson but will be their smaller simpler beads. Crystals will still be Swarovski and anything attached will be silver wire wrapped.
I have as I said I would this week made and added some more designs to the new Pebble Dreams shop page. All the pebbles used in this shop will come from Rob Johnsons unique and stunning range of Lampwork Pebble Beads. Each one is totally individual and unique in shape and size but all compliment each other perfectly. Doesnt time fly nearly at the end of February already. Now we have hopefully seen the last of the snow and we can look forward to spring. Its so nice seeing the snowdrops carpeting the roadsides. With this in mind I have been making a few new pieces which I hope will be suitable for our spring Brides and there is a new Shop page for Wedding and Occasion.
Rather than the traditional Tiaras and the like of which there are many on the market I have kept things rather more low key very unlike me I know with perhaps the Attendants or the Bride in a civil service in mind. Pieces that would look good on the day and could also in these credit crunch times be worn after the event to pretty up a tried and tested dress accessories can do wonders for a favourite outfit at a fraction of the cost.

Autumn Update

Well here we are again a bit behind as I just realised its two months since my last rant. Autumn has arrived and I have given in and put the central heating on bliss. I have been having fun making lots of bracelets and some new more affordable items for the gift season. There is no way I will compromise on quality by substituting plated silver for sterling or Czech imports for UK Artisan made beads so I have used more of Rob and Yvonne Johnsons standard beads and went mad durning Robs 100 sale where he offered sets of his quality beads at one buy it now price. Not seconds or inferior in any way but his usual interesting and varied repetable ranges. The one off sets I have will be saved for the more expensive pieces.
I am also offering pieces without the Chain Maille I love so much but it is labour intensive and uses lots of silver per necklace. Instead I have used a product called beading chain which is sterling silver articulated continuous chain that can be threaded through some ...

Summer sort out as I type that it is tipping it down with rain yet again and I really ought to go and get something warmer to put on as not even I could justify switching the heating back on in August and I hate being cold.
Another month has flown by and people have been kind and spent a little money with me despite the credit crunch so a tidy up of the site a bit of editing and some additions were due. I have so much going on in my head that I want to make but I have to reign myself in on occassions and be sensible but I have made a few new pieces including some bracelets that people have been asking me for and added those to the site. I have also separated out some of the necklaces and earings into their own pages but there are a few that I felt had to be left as sets.

Firstly I would like to welcome my new customers and thank them for their business. In the light of this I have done a quick update on the online shop and it is now looking a little depleated. I hope to rectify that this weekend when I will take some photos of the new pieces I have ready and add them to the shop.
