Frequently asked questions.
* Is the item I see on the web page the one I will receive.
Yes, the photograph shows the actual piece of jewellery that will be sent to you.
At the present time I am unable to produce bespoke commission pieces.
As I have said previously, I will not replicate exactly any piece offered on the site that has been marked 'Unique' as that would be unfair to my Clients. I will produce variations on a design by changing the stones or combinations of materials and if say, there was a piece that you liked the design of shown in Lapis Lazuli and you wanted it in Jasper for example, please do contact me, and if I am able to make it for you I will.
* Do I 'buy in' any products.
No, all of the designs and pieces you see are made by me. Obviously I purchase components, beads, stones, silver etc, but every item is handmade by MornieG Jewellery. I weave my own sterling silver chain maille, and I would never acquire cheap bracelets, earings or necklaces from abroad and 'customise' them.
* Are dimensions given accurate.
All of the dimensions are measured from the finished piece and are accurate to within a few millimeters. The overall lengths of necklaces are with the clasp fastened and any feature focal or drop is given in addition to this length. Earing drops are from the bottom of the fitting or earwire.
If any additional measurements are required, for example the size of stones or components please call or e-mail me and I can measure them for you.
* How do I care for my jewellery.
Your purchase will come with a small piece of anti-tarnish cloth or tab which will assist in the slowing down of the natural tarnishing process when not being worn, for a short time after receipt. Exposing the jewellery to the elements and the natural oils in our skin will dull the silver and leave deposits on the piece which obviously cannot be avoided. It is advisable to refrain from spraying such things as perfume and hairsprays directly onto them, contaminating the surface with cosmetics, detergents and anything acidic. Cleaning the piece with a proprietry jewellery cleaning cloth which is impregnated with a suitable cleanser, on a regular basis, will prolong its looks and make long term maintenance easier.
The selection of stones used in each piece means the long term durability of each is variable, for example pearls and opals are known to be soft and delicate, whereas a grainte such as labrodite is hard, as pieces often contain more than one type of stone , it should be assumed that each stone is delicate and be treated accordingly.
DO NOT PLACE PIECES INTO A SONIC CLEANING MACHINE AS MANY PRECIOUS, SEMI PRECIOUS AND GLASS STONES AND BEADS COULD BE PERMANTLY DAMAGED .
* What if I damage a piece of MornieG Jewellery.
Accidents happen. If you have an accident and damage a piece of jewellery you can contact me and I will do my best to repair it for you. It could be as simple as catching the clasp in clothing and detaching it from the body of the piece to dropping it and having it crushed underfoot . Easily done if you are shortsighted like me ! I would probably need to see the piece to provide you with an estimate to do the work, and any postage and packing costs would be down to the owner. It may be difficult to locate complimentary stones especially for rarer items, or replacement specialist clasps, but I would discuss fully with you the implications of doing the work as each piece is individual.
If we agree a repair I will set the perameters out in writing and ask you to sign a copy and return it to me along with a 50% deposit for the work, the balance of which will be due before despatch back to you.
