New Product

As promised I have listed my new Range of Grown Up Surfer style Bracelets. I have decided not to list them as Mens Jewellery although they have in the main been sized as such, but there are a couple of smaller ones that would be suitable for a womans wrist. I think the Harley style with the addition of silver is more Biker Chic ( Chick ) than surfer and I wear one often myself.

Up and Running again

Following on from my dash to be with my family following my Fathers operations, he had to have yet further surgery for another complication and we were told that it was likely he would not survive this one as he was so weak. But being from good old strong farming stock, survive he did, the five hour operation and I am pleased to say is making good progress.

Many thanks to those that wished him well, your kind thoughts and comments were much appreciated.

I am back home now as I have to return to work on monday and somehow get back into Jewellery mode, the nights are drawing in and Christmas is fast approaching. Looks like the candles will be burning from both ends for the next few weeks.

I will be listing some new Mens Jewellery shortly that I finished just before I had to dash off, just need to take some more photos. I noticed my 29 year old godson still wearing the surfer bracelets of his missspent youth and it occured to me that maybe he would like a more grown up version, better quality and with more interesting beads. I then started to notice there were lots of men about still wearing them although now all suited and booted, the majority of which haven't been near a surf board for years. So after a bit of market research that came back in the main positive, I have made some Greek Leather Surfer/Biker Style bracelets with Sea Glass and Lampwork Shingle Beads and a little silver on some which I thought would be nice coming up to the "OMG What do I buy him for Christmas" season.

Sad Post

Have not been able to do any jewellery as my dear Father has been taken critically ill. Having been in hospital for 4 weeks he came home for 5 days and was rushed back to hospital for emergency surgery. Sadly monday night he had to have yet another major operation for further complications and is back in ITU for the duration. He will be in hospital for several months to come. Spending time in Bristol with my family as fortunately I am supposed to be on two weeks annual leave from work, to give my poor overworked sister some respite.

I have as you may have seen on my home page left a message for any clients that I will not be able to post any items before Monday 27th September.

I appreciate your understanding. MornieG.

Finally done it !!!!!

Well I finally did it. Spent a fantastic bank holiday weekend at Flux n Flame having my first silversmithing lesson. I am totally hooked, without a doubt. Dying to get my workshop finished so I can make a start to progress and refine what I have learnt to a stage when I will be happy that I am good enough to ask cold hard cash for my pieces.

Here are the results of my weekend, two rings that I am proud to be able to wear even if not yet good enough to unleash on the public. On the left hand side is my Ribbon Ring in sterling silver. The ribbon is hand textured and forged to shape with a soldered post to hold the beautiful little Storm Lampwork Bead from Rob Johnson. The unusual design spans across to the adjacent finger, left or right as you wish to wear it. The first one I made was the one on the right. Taken from a design I already had in my huge file of "Things I want to make sometime", I adapted it to incorporate the fabulous faceted deep blue trillion Topaz I came across on the course. The main body of the ring is in Sterling Silver, half hand textured again with an opaque finish and half highly polished, the bezel set stone was highlighted with 18ct Gold.

My huge thanks to Jesa, Al and Fran of Flux n Flame for their unfailing patience and "can do" attitude to enable me to make these pieces.

Thank you to all my clients and especially those that contacted me after receiving their purchase. Its nice to know for sure that you are pleased with your item, I know how hard it is to select something so personal without the benifit of being able to touch it or try it on.

The Schools are nearly all back this coming week and thoughts will soon be turning to Christmas. I am trying not to go there untill after my holiday later this month, when I will once again be descending upon Rob and Yvonne Johnson for a day and wallow in the sweetie shop that is their studio full of amazing lampwork beads, can't wait.

That's it from me, and once again thank you to everyone for your continued support.

Rocks and Robins.

May Day, and the sun has tried very hard to keep shining but the clouds have now taken over completely and the rain has started. Sat at my keyboard I have a front row seat to keep an eye on the family of Robins that have taken up residence in the front hedge. The parents are working their socks off, in and out of the hedge all day long, but I have not seen any young yet and don't want to disturb the nest. They guard it furiously attacking any other birds that come near, then turn their backs on the nest until they are sure no one is looking to see them enter it again. Wonderful tenacious little native birds, they are welcome to stay in my garden anytime.

The natural history update out of the way, I'm here really to tell you that my "Rios Rocks" collection for Swanky Maison has now gone live. You can go directly to my designs by clicking this link  www.swankymaison.com/about/riosrocks/html

I am delighted to be associated with Swanky Maison and I'm sure you will find plenty of other beautiful items to tempt you, all chosen by them personally to compliment and enhance your lifestyle, from cushions to ceramics, wall art to jewellery, all designed and made by British Artisans to the highest standards.

So if we don't get the barbeque weather we would wish for this bank holiday weekend, maybe a little retail therapy will cheer you up. Whatever you do enjoy your May day, and I hope to see you soon again.

Rio's Rocks.

Hi everyone, just back from another successful visit to Rob and Yvonne Johnsons Studio in Upwell. The sun shone brightly and I was again made very welcome despite taking up a precious sunday. With more lovely Sea Glass and Lampwork beads to play with I hope to list some new pieces for summer over the next few weeks.

You will shortly be able to find a new range of Jewellery from me called "Rio's Rocks" made exclusively for Swanky Maison the fabulous new on line store www.swankymaison.com I will be listing the first pieces this coming weekend. This new venture, unlike lots of craft type sites that have sprung up over the last year or so, prides itself on selecting only quality products for it's store and I am delighted that a range of MornieG Jewellery products will be available from them.

For those of you that have visited MornieG Jewellery site before you will notice it has had a revamp. I was trying to make it a little lighter and brighter. The only problem I and for that matter MrSite has is they can not sort out the variable font that still remains in my blog, so apologies for this folks as it does make it look rather unkempt and scruffy. Will keep trying to get it right but for a computer numpty like me I rather think it will have to stay. I will gradually revamp the listings too over the next few weeks editing out the old and sold and listing the new.

Enjoy the fabulous weather while it lasts.

New Listings

Spring is here and my Mojo has returned along with the sunshine. So I have listed a new design for me, a Lariat style Necklace and matching Earrings in some of Rob Johnsons stunning Colbalt Blue Sea Glass beads, in my Sea Glass shop. I can see a bride wearing this statement piece against a simple classic gown or be like me and wear your jewellery anytime just because you like it regardless of the occassion, my goodness this piece worn with a classic look of jeans and a white tee-shirt under a smart jacket would look stunning.

Short and sweet post today, off to play with some more sea glass and lampwork hearts, must make the most of that mojo feeling.

For your Valentine

Goodness two posts in one month. Just a quick one today to let you know about my first Valentine design for this year, the "Bursting with Love" Necklace. It can be found in the Wedding and Occassion shop as it would be eminantley suitable for any of these outings. This was inspired from my latest Sea Glass piece "Northern Lights "

Most Lampwork Hearts are made with the holes vertical as it's more difficult to get a pleasing Heart Shape working in the opposite direction, but Rob very kindly made me this one and I have three more I hope, on the way shortly. I have been told 'no more' after those, will see what I can do to change his mind for next year, as I think they are so beautiful and worth the extra time, effort and money they cost to produce. I love rare things to work with especially for my Unique pieces.

Off to make some matching Earrings, see them on here soon.

MornieG.

Belated New Year Greetings

Oh dear I'm really not very good at keeping up with my blog. Nearly the end of January and here I am saying Happy New Year. What a start to 2010 we have had weather wise but hopefully spring is on the way.

To be honest I have been struggling somewhat on the design front. I waxed lyrical on here when I was introduced to Rob Johnsons Sea Glass earlier last year. I have amassed quite a collection and I still love it just as much but I felt it needed a design, style or range of its own. While I am perfectly happy with the pieces I have made up so far, I really love the Necklace I have listed today, Northern Lights. It's lighter and finer than anything I have done before and I think compliments the glass nicely. There are matching Earrings of a simple drop, as I feel you don't need two extravagant pieces of jewellery competing with each other. I hope you like it too and I hope to work on some more pieces in the coming weeks.

Whilst business generally has been slow the run up to christmas was not too bad for me, and I would like to thank those that bought from MornieG especially the returning customers, which makes you feel you must be doing something right. The site will have a freshen up in the next few weeks too, it's long overdue, far too many sold items still on here.

That's it from me for now and thank you again for your support.

Mornie G X

Seasons Greetings

Here is wishing everyone a Wonderful Christmas and a Very Happy and Healthy 2010.

Another year nearly over and I would like to thank all those that purchased a piece of my jewellery, those that didn't but passed on my details to others and those that looked and may return next year and find something that they like enough to buy. It's been a tough year for everyone and I really appreciate the business that has come from all of my on line outlets.

I want to have a tidy up of the site over the christmas and make some new pieces with my vast collection of Semi-precious stones, Lampwork and Sea Glass beads to start 2010 afresh. Although I have still not been able to start on the silversmithing I really hope to find the time in the coming year as I have so many designs in my mind I want to make.

The sea glass beads from Rob Johnson are a delight and I had several commission pieces to make with them pre christmas and I, and hopefully the recipients as I think they were all gifts, were really pleased with the designs. They all seem to look good with pearls and for finding semi-precious stones to go with them I just sat them in the middle of any that I vaguely thought might go, and in the end it was the stones themselves that 'said' thats the one, they just looked right.

I have amassed a ridiculously large collection of Robs focals and really have to let a few go to new homes ! Just can't resist them and going to visit his studio in november again was fatal. Oh well at least unlike shoes they don't depreciate.

Have a lovely time everyone and thank you again for your support.

Winter has arrived.

After a couple of days of galeforce winds and lashing rain we have a little calm again here in Wiltshire. Still it ment I had an excuse to make a few new items. I have listed one bracelet here and a few new pieces in my MISI shop www.mornieg.misi.co.uk I'm off to visit my friends and lampwork suppliers Rob and Yvonne Johnson next saturday and will once again disrupt their weekend by spending sunday playing in my version of a sweet shop, their barn and workshop. The day always goes so quickly and I have to be back at work again on monday but it's well worth the journey. Its Robs birthday today so hopefully I can stretch the celebration by a week to next sunday as well. I really must start thinking about christmas with regards to making a sensible list of to do's and gifts. Really can't keep giving people jewellery all the time, but for those of you who don't make it please take a look in my shops, Misi as above, www.folksy.morniegjewellery.co.ok and of course here, I hope you can find something you like. If you want something special I will do my best to help with a commission piece. Please e-mail me with your requirements at mornieg@tiscali.co.uk or via my contact page here. With only 5 weeks to the big day please don't leave it too late.

Thanks for listening once again, keep warm and dry, Mornie G X

Quick update.

Just look at this beautiful indian summer weather and here am I thinking about Christmas. But needs must, and I have listed a few new items as bracelets were popular gifts last Christmas and hopefully again this year. I will add to these as fast as I can make them over the next few weeks. I have a shop on Folksy now as well www.folksy.com/shops/MornieGJewellery as well as my MISI one www.mornieg.misi.co.uk. Although some items overlap all the three shops, when people are multiple purchasing as they do at christmas, it's sometimes easier to purchase everything from one store rather like we do on the high street and now on line. These handmade gift emporiums are a godsend and you know they are all genuine artisans with no bought in goods, so once again you are supporting British small industry by purchasing through them.

A quick thank you to all my customers who have supported me through the recession so far and although still ongoing, there is light at the end of the long tunnel. So spread your Christmas budgets and start shopping early this year.

Happy shopping, Mornie G XX

Sea Glass Jewellery

Wow, two blogs in one month ! I said I would blog when I had something useful to say, and I have. My favourite Lampworker Rob Johnson has done it again, and come up with something beautiful, unique and totally irresistable, Sea Glass Beads.

I have today created a new shop page "Sea Glass Jewellery" and have listed my first two pieces made from a set of beads Rob has made from sea glass he has salvaged from the shores of the east coast of England. He is also making silver cored pieces and I have made a necklace with my first piece but sadly I cannot part with it, and have worn it to death in the last month ! I have another piece on its way and three more sets of beads so will be listing more as soon as I can design and make some more pieces.

For those who are not familiar with Sea Glass, Beach Glass or Mermaids Tears, as it is also refered to, here is a brief resume. It is basically our lost, discarded usually broken glass from over the years, some new, some hundreds of years old, that has found its way to the sea via, dumping from ships, being washed away by natural disasters, or finding its way into the sea via storm drains and outlets or just from the general littering of our coastlines. It is transformed by mother nature as she tumbles and sandblasts it in her waves into beautiful frosted gems and then throws it back at us to rediscover in all its newborn glory, to take and recreate something equally, or more beautiful than the original, recycling at its best.

I love the romantic connotations of Sea Glass. Did the piece come from the windows of some great house, dragged into the sea by costal errosion. From the empty bottle of wine discarded overboard from an old seagoing ship destined for the new worlds. A blue medicine bottle emptied by the ships physician. Some will be, but most will be relatively modern glass, but with the modern discouragement to litter, supplies are dwindling and genuine Sea Glass is one of the very few cases of a valuable item being created by the actions of the enviroment from the detritus of man.

I will elaborate more on the actual glass itself in the materials page, the rare and the fake, but for now just to say, these shards of glass, now reincarnated by Rob into incredible little roundells of beauty which can only really be fully appreciated at close quarters, are definately one of my favourite materials to create with.

I hope you love them as much as I do.

Where has the time gone ?

Hi there. Can't believe it's so long since I last posted. So much going on in work and life in general the time has just flown by. Summer is nearly over, the children are back to school and the dreaded "C" word is starting to be banded about.

Just come back from a fabulous few days in sunny, yes sunny not blowing a gale and raining, Norfolk where of course I had to visit my wonderful lampwork glass makers Rob and Yvonne Johnson. Once again they gave up a precious day from their weekend to have me invade the barn, riffle their stocks, feed me, give me a sightseeing tour and still smile at the end of it and say come back soon.

Rob's new creations from sea glass are so unique. Naturally I bought some of his seaglass beads and will acquire some silver cored pieces, but there were none finished when I was there. They are all selling as fast as he can make them which is fantastic for him and a pain for me as I keep getting pipped at the post to the ones I want from his Pebble Dreams site. I will persevere and win in the end !! I love the romance of the glass, bottles, glasses, window panes, all smashed and broken churned by the waves, etched smooth and thrown back to be made into something new and beautiful, recycling at it very best.

My MISI site is up and running now www.mornieg.misi.co.uk and contains more strung pieces and less chainmaille to keep costs down in these belt tightening times. Some items overlap the two sites but nothing is repeated, when a piece is sold it goes from both sites as there is only one. I list more frequently on MISI so do please have a look, it is a wonderful site full of the most amazing handmade products from many, many talented people around the country. As much as I would like you to buy from my store, MISI is a community and we all support each other and our various crafts. You could do your entire Christmas shop from one place this year, your armchair.

My insurer has now told me that I am allowed to export worldwide on things sold from my web sites and have PL cover so I will change the notices regarding this straight away.

That's enough waffle for now. I hope you all had a fantastic summer and I will try and post more frequently in the future. Thank you again for looking at my site and I hope one day you find something you like enough to purchase.

Mornie G XX

Summer's here.

Gosh so long since last blog just don't know where the time is going. But on a day like today the sky is blue, the sun is shining and all is well with the world ! Trying not to think about going back to work again tomorrow. Listed a couple of new necklaces with matching earings today. They are a new strung design and I have to say I am quite pleased with them. Listed them straight away or may be tempted to keep at least one ! The strung pieces keep the prices down for you and I am enjoying trying to make something different by using findings in a different way than intended. I did this with the Tanya Choker in the Weddings and Occassion shop and I think this worked well too.

Thanks again to the customers that are supporting my enterprise. Things are slow but hopefully we have hit the bottom of the recession and can look forward to next year taking a turn for the better.

A visit to Rob and Yvonne Johnson last month brought about a spending spree, Rob's Pebbles are just the best and any photo I take doesn't do them justice. I have several sets to play with, but the pieces I have been making have in the main been selling before I can get them on the web site despite the premium price. Just goes to show it's value for money not the bottom line that discerning clients want, and every Pebble is Unique. You won't find another person wearing the same piece of jewellery if you buy a unique piece from MornieG.

That's enough waffle from me. Back to the bench to finish the latest piece. Enjoy the lovely weather lets hope it lasts even if it does stop people from sitting indoors and shopping on line.

Mornie G.x

Quick Update

Yes I know it's only a few days instead of months since my last post, but it will be a short one. My new MISI site is fully up and running on www.mornieg.misi.co.uk. and I will be adding a few new items on a regular basis. Everything on MISI is still Sterling Silver and made to the same standard as the pieces here on my main site but with little or no chain maille, with the exception of the odd more expensive piece that I may from time to time include just for fun ! and the lampwork will still come from the studio of Rob and Yvonne Johnson but will be their smaller, simpler beads. Crystals will still be Swarovski and anything attached will be silver wire wrapped.

I have, as I said I would this week, made and added some more designs to the new Pebble Dreams shop page. All the pebbles used in this shop will come from Rob Johnsons unique and stunning range of Lampwork Pebble Beads. My photography, although greatly improved from a year ago, still does not do the beads justice I'm afraid.

Well that's it from me. Many thanks to everyone for their continuing support. Mornie G.x

New Pebble Shop.

Hi everyone, well I thought spring had sprung but the rain is back here still I suppose it is milder.

I have created a new shop page, Pebble Dream Jewellery, which will contain Unique and Exclusive Jewellery made using Rob Johnsons Stunning sets of Pebble Lampwork Beads, to which I am completely addicted, either on their own or combined with other complimentary beads from his or Yvonnes huge range, or with semi-precious stones and beads.

The first four pieces I made got sold before they even made it to the website, so it looks as if I am not the only one who likes this type of bead. Each one is totally individual and unique in shape and size, but all compliment each other perfectly. I have a new set of the most glorious pink and silver ones I am looking forward to playing with this weekend and hopefully you should see the results in the shop sometime next week.

I have also joined the MISI handmade crafts shopping experience, where I am selling some of my more everyday pieces with just a couple of the unique sets to 'test the water'.  It is an easy to use site like this one with PayPal for secure payments. I will have a direct link to the site shortly on www.mornieg.misi.co.uk but you can log onto the general MISI site in the meantime www.misi.co.uk go into jewellery - silver- and you will find my pieces and my shop page, at the moment under, Mo Goodfield.

Thanks to everyone again, especially in this time of belt tightening, for their custom. I really need to get back to my bench and produce some more Occassion and Pebble pieces.

MornieG.x

Doesn't time fly, nearly at the end of February already. Now we have hopefully seen the last of the snow and we can look forward to spring. It's so nice seeing the snowdrops carpeting the roadsides. With this in mind I have been making a few new pieces which I hope will be suitable for our spring Brides and there is a new Shop page for Wedding and Occasion.

Rather than the traditional Tiaras and the like, of which there are many on the market, I have kept things rather more low key, very unlike me I know, with perhaps the Attendants or the Bride in a civil service in mind. Pieces that would look good on the day and could also, in these credit crunch times, be worn after the event to pretty up a tried and tested dress, accessories can do wonders for a favourite outfit at a fraction of the cost.

They would make lovely gifts for the attendants, mothers and helpers alike, and enhance the Brides outfit without overwhelming it. I have used traditional pearls but with the addition of some lampwork shingle beads from Rob again, and delicate semi-precious stones and faceted beads. I can't get enough of Rob Johnsons beads, so different from the rest, beautiful yet strong, each one a little work of art. The rock shingles transformed by making in what he terms 'girly' colours, blush pink, lavender and periwinkle blue to name but three, perfect for our weddings.

I might transfer some of the pieces that would normally reside in the other shop pages, as not everyone wears 'bling' on a daily basis like me, and they may consider some of the pieces more Occasion wear.

Thanks again for sticking with the waffle, and please remember me when you have that 'Occasion' to attend.  Mornie G.

Happy New Year

A very Happy, Healthy and at least Solvent New Year to you all.

I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and those that gave or received a piece of Mornie G Jewellery were delighted with their purchase or gift. I would like to thank all my Clients for their support in 2008, it was very gratifying that you had faith in my products. As a new venture for me it was a scary leap of faith especially as it turned out, at the beginning of a recession.

I have towards the end of the year, tried to include some less expensive items and I will continue to add these in 2009. The 'charm' bracelets sold well for christmas and I will make some more and add to the site soon. I appreciate we all have less cash for luxuries but we still like to treat ourselves occassionaly and not ignore our friends and relatives own celebrations, be it birthday, congratulations, valentines or just because you love them and they deserve to be spoilt sometimes too.

I have separated the shop so there are earings from as little as £7.50, bracelets from £35.00 and necklaces from £25.00, and I will add more in these price ranges soon. The quality remains the same whatever the price. The lampwork is still from the workshops of Rob and Yvonne Johnson and all fittings are sterling silver, although there will be less or no hand woven chain maille on these pieces. My pearls are natural cultured, occasionally swarovski ( but you will see that in the description ) and crystals only from Swarovski. Beads are lampwork glass, again from Rob and Yvonne, not cheap imports from abroad, or semi-precious stones.

I will still produce the chainmaille and lampwork pieces I love to make, and I am hoping to start to learn some basic silversmithing during the coming year. If it all works out well and I think what I produce is good enough, I will hopefully incorporate it into my work. I  was lucky enough to be given some fantastic books and tools for Christmas towards the vast kit I will need to persue this latest dream, and my husband has promised to make me a proper jewellers work bench for my birthday at the end of the month. It's handy having a carpenter in the house sometimes !

I know I have been very lax on the Blog front but with a full time job as well things get very hectic towards the end of the year. When I do get it together I can waffle on a bit, but I dont see the point blogging unless I have something to say.

Thank you all again for your support, please come back and visit Mornie G soon. Very best wishes for 2009 and beyond.

Mornie G X

Autumn Update

Well here we are again, a bit behind as I just realised it's two months since my last rant. Autumn has arrived and I have given in and put the central heating on, bliss. I have been having fun making lots of bracelets and some new more affordable items for the gift season. There is no way I will compromise on quality by substituting plated silver for sterling or Czech imports for UK Artisan made beads so I have used more of Rob and Yvonne Johnsons 'standard' beads and went mad durning Robs '100' sale, where he offered sets of his quality beads at one ' buy it now ' price. Not seconds, or inferior in any way, but his usual interesting and varied repetable ranges. The one off sets I have will be saved for the more expensive pieces.

I am also offering pieces without the Chain Maille I love so much, but it is labour intensive and uses lots of silver per necklace. Instead I have used a product called 'beading chain' which is sterling silver articulated continuous chain, that can be threaded through some beads or used in combination with chain maille or stainless steel beading wire for threaded necklaces. I always use the heavy guage, likewise for the bracelets I always use a medium or heavy guage curb link chain instead of the lightweight versions favoured by so many others to keep costs down.

You will see from the pictures that I don't just thread a lampwork bead on a flat pin and attach to the bracelet. I use a ball headpin and silver beads, pearls or small semiprecious beads to compliment the glass or stone. This is all additional money but I just can't bring myself to cut back to the point where I am not happy with the piece and to me it would look 'cheap' and unfinished. So my bottom line is probably a little more than others on the market but the little additions I offer I feel are worth it.

The Party season will be with us very soon and the shops are full of Christmas stock. I was in Manchester at the weekend doing a little retail therapy on a 'girls weekend' and it was like no one up there had heard of the credit crunch, the shops were heaving and the tills ringing. If the budget doesn't stretch to a new outfit for the party season this year, remember a stunning accessory can lift a simple dress or if you feel like a little early gift browsing in the comfort of your own home, then please have a wander through my shop to view my new products. If you like the site please tell your friends, if you don't remember we can't all like the same things. Once again many thanks for taking the time to read this, I welcome your comments via my contacts page. Get the winter woolies out, I think we are going to need them shortly.

Kindest regards Mornie G.

Summer Sort Out

''Summer sort out'' as I type that it is tipping it down with rain yet again and I really ought to go and get something warmer to put on, as not even I could justify switching the heating back on in August and I hate being cold.

Another month has flown by and people have been kind and spent a little money with me despite the credit crunch ,so a tidy up of the site, a bit of editing and some additions were due. I have so much going on in my head that I want to make but I have to reign myself in on occassions and be sensible,  but I have made a few new pieces including some bracelets that people have been asking me for and added those to the site. I have also separated out some of the necklaces and earings into their own pages but there are a few that I felt had to be left as sets.

I know I will have to be thinking about Christmas soon. Although a lot of my designs are already ' in your face' pieces that, unlike me, many people would only wear in the evening, I will make some specifically evening pieces for the party season. I hope also to do a few Jewellery Parties locally in the run up to Christmas so plenty to be getting on with.

Thank you again for taking the time to browse my site, and please do feel free to 'talk' to me via my e-amil contact page or leave a comment. Enjoy what is left of the summer. Mornie G.

Quick tidy up.

Firstly I would like to welcome my new customers and thank them for their business. In the light of this I have done a quick update on the online shop and it is now looking a little depleated. I hope to rectify that this weekend when I will take some photos of the new pieces I have ready, and add them to the shop. I think I have finally mastered the camera so I hope that the photographs will be a little better than the last ones and I will to be able to post some close up shots of the earings especially.

I think the jewellery is taking over, I found myself up at 5.30am one morning this week finishing a necklace and earings before I went to work, just because I wanted to see it finished and was too tired the night before to do so !

I am accumalating so many of Rob Johnsons lampwork beads, but I just can't resist them, it's like being let loose in a sweetshop at 7 years old. He is making so many truely beautiful beads and unfortunately my terrible photography does not do them justice. I try my best to describe them in the text but it is very difficult. I  must stop hoarding them for myself and get more onto the site.

That's enough from me for the moment. Comments are always welcome via e-mail, I like to know what potential customers like and dislike about my jewellery, the website, or if you just want to 'chat', that's fine with me. I hope you call back soon to view my new pieces, have a good weekend. With thanks, Mornie G.

Visit to Beadmakers.

Decided that I just had to make the long journey to Norfolk to Visit Rob and Yvonne Johnson who make the most fantastic Lampwork Beads. I am a huge fan of Robs and am using his beads more and more in my jewellery and now Yvonne has started to produce her own range which I also use, I felt a visit was due. I like to understand the mechanics of things, how they are made and the limitations or otherwise of the product. Rob was moaning that I always want what I can't have, well I'm a woman, so what does he expect ! I had a lovely day, tried to make some beads under Robs excellent tutition, they were reasonably round, but I think I will leave it to the experts. I was fed and watered throughout my over extended stay and came away with lots of lovely, lovely beads. Rumaging through the stock of beads in the barn, I was like a kid in a sweet shop, and I wanted lots more that I left with, but there is always next time if they will have me back.

A very wet visit to Ely on Sunday was followed by an even wetter journey home on Monday, but I couldn't wait to get back and play with my new stock of beads, and have spent hours planning new pieces which I hope to make a start on this weekend as I have to get back to my day job on Wednesday.

Hope you all had a good holiday weekend despite the weather, and will pop back to see the new pieces I hope to make with my bead hoard shortly.  Mornie G.
